Cannabutter Brownies

Small-batch one-bowl brownies using cannabutter. The default batch makes small brownies at about 10 mg THC each, assuming the cannabutter is about 1.5 mg THC per gram.

1. Prep

  1. Preheat oven to 170 C.
  2. Line a loaf pan, about 20 x 10 cm, with parchment paper.
  3. Cut the parchment long enough to leave handles on two sides.

2. Melt the butter

  1. Melt the cannabutter gently over low heat or in short microwave bursts.
  2. Stir very thoroughly so the fat is even.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes until warm, not hot.

3. Mix

  1. Stir the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt into the melted butter.
  2. Add the eggs and vanilla, then stir until glossy and smooth.
  3. Add the flour and stir only until no dry flour remains.
  4. Fold in the chopped chocolate or walnuts if using.

4. Bake

  1. Scrape the batter into the lined pan and spread it evenly into the corners.
  2. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  3. The brownies are done when the edges are set and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
  4. Do not bake until the toothpick is completely clean, or the brownies will be dry.

5. Cool and portion

  1. Cool completely in the pan.
  2. Lift out using the parchment handles.
  3. Cut into 8 equal pieces, about 5 x 5 cm each.
  4. Store in a clearly labelled container.

Dosing

The default recipe uses:

53 g cannabutter x 1.5 mg THC per g = about 80 mg THC total
80 mg THC / 8 brownies = about 10 mg THC each

If your cannabutter has a different estimated strength, use:

grams cannabutter = desired THC per brownie x 8 brownies / THC per gram cannabutter

If you use less cannabutter, add plain butter to keep the total butter at about 53 g.
